The children in Year 1 and 2 listened to the story of Christopher Pumpkin, with a little visitor on Miss McNulty's shoulder...Fidelma Fairy! She had her invisibility charm applied, so we couldn't see her, but Miss McNulty could hear her. After the story was read, Fidelma wanted to create a spooky potion, like the witch did in the story and told the boys and girls how she had hidden all the ingredients around their classroom. We used our very own pumpkin to add the ingredients to as well as form our spell. The first ingredient was snow she had taken from the highest mountain peaks. The second was slime from the bath of a monster. The third was blood from a scary spider she had met and finally, water from the pool on fairy island. A little sprinkle of fairy dust and, the potion was made! We threw in an eyeball as well as a bat, just to make it extra spooky! We all made a wish, as the potion fizzed- and poooff! Fidelma was gone! (she went off in search of more ingredients for the children to make their own potions). Lets see what amazing potions we can create during play with all the new and spooky ingredients Fidelma Fairy finds for us! What sort of spell will be formed the next time?
